Spring
2005
Susan Goodman is a treasured member of Bostic’s school
family. Susan has served as Bostic’s PTO Treasurer this
year, and has done an outstanding job. She is extremely
accurate and conscientious. Last year she was our School
Store Coordinator, and performed phenomenally as she
purchased and put together packets of school supplies for
all of our students. She also maintained and supplied
school supply items during the entire school year to
students, and was so very organized that the new School
Store Coordinator this year was able to begin the year with
supply money and a plan. Susan regularly volunteers for a
variety of activities during the school year in addition to
the duties she has taken on as a PTO Officer. We salute
Susan’s efforts at Bostic, and are so very pleased that she
shares her talents with us.
Tammy and Yvette are extremely valuable parent volunteers at
Bostic Traditional Magnet. Not only do they volunteer their
time in monthly PTO Meetings, volunteer in their children’s
classrooms, in the library and on special PTO activities;
they have also taken on the task of insuring that students
have clothing to wear that meets our standardized dress
policy. Tammy regularly orders and delivers new shirts as
well as making them available for purchase during enrollment
each year. Yvette takes donated, standardized dress items
home, washes them, and returns them to display and sell at
very reduced prices. Both of these ladies have done a
phenomenal job in making items available for our students
for several years now, and are both so very kind and
helpful. We appreciate them immensely!
Minda has been Bostic’s School Nurse for two years, and our
staff is so very appreciative of her kindness and sincerity
in working with students and staff. Minda is a
professional and caring person in every way. She truly has
the welfare of all students in mind, and will work with
parents and agencies in order to meet student needs. Minda
is knowledgeable and supports health and wellness both in
and outside our school setting. We are thrilled that Minda
is a member of Bostic’s faculty.
2004 Good Apple Awards
Deanna
Polly-Faulkner
is a caring, giving parent who is one of Bostic’s greatest
supporters. She serves as the Site Council Vice-Chairperson
and as the PTO Teacher Appreciation Coordinator. She
prepares a monthly newsletter that includes the minutes of
PTO and Site Council Meetings as well as items of interest
for parents. Mrs. Polly-Faulkner is always quick to offer a
helping hand or a solution to any problem. Mrs.
Polly-Faulkner has a truly generous and caring spirit, and
is so very appreciated by Bostic’s Staff.
Mrs. Helmer and
Mrs. Smading have done a phenomenal job of co-chairing
our Parent Teacher Organization. They are welcomed new
families through a mentoring program, organized and managed
fundraisers for items needed, have instituted teacher grants
from PTO and regularly energize and organize our many parent
volunteers. These terrific ladies’ creative and
collaborative efforts have done so very much for Bostic
students and staff.
Patricia Lewis,
otherwise known as Patti by all of Bostic’s students,
parents, and staff; is a truly remarkable person. She is
always willing to go above and beyond the norm to help a
staff member or student. She takes care of business, and
takes care of any child that is hurt or sick. She is kind,
patient, and soothing to those in need as well as hanging on
to her sense of humor. When our School Age Program needed
extra adults to go to the pool to supervise students; Patti
was there to help (even though it was during her summer
vacation). Patti is a whiz when using a computer, and
often solves problems for staff members who are not quite so
techno savvy. Every school should be so lucky to have
someone as special as Bostic’s own Patti Lewis. |
